Our Partnership of schools

Spirituality

“Spiritual development is not an accomplishment but a way of life. It is an orientation that brings its own rewards and what is important is the direction of one’s motives.”

David R. Hawkins

Our Trust approach to developing children’s spiritual awareness is centred on relational awareness, fostering a sense of ‘awe and wonder’, asking big questions and caring for nature and living things. The approach takes a secular description (relational awareness of self, others, the transcendental) rather than an approach which defines ‘spirituality’. Our aim as a Trust family of schools is to enable all children to flourish spiritually as well as academically, emotionally and socially. The language we use with children to develop spiritually is ‘IN, OUT and UP’ – for children this is looking inward at the self, looking outwards towards others and looking up to something greater than ourselves.

Our approach to Spirituality is underpinned by our Christian mission John 10:10 Flourishing Futures (John 10:10 - He came so that they may have life and live it to the full). We are committed to serving our pupils and communities and we do this through a curriculum offer which enables them to flourish, experience endless opportunities and attain well, no matter what their starting point.

We will be an exceptional School Trust. We are committed to social mobility and a culture of belonging. We do this by investing in people enabling every child to be taught by the very best teachers so that we can achieve social change and all children flourish. It is through this deep commitment to enabling all to ‘flourish’ that we have created our School Trust approach to developing spirituality.
