Well done and thank you to all the children who participated in this years fantastic Triathlon which took place on Friday 28th June. Special thanks to Linzi Tynan, Suzy Connor and their amazing team of volunteers who have been working hard behind the scenes for weeks. From early on Friday morning their was a real buzz around school as everyone was getting everything set up for the triathlon. There was great excitement as children arrived at school with the music playing and lots of excited children registering.
The afternoon’s activities started with a warm up routine for the whole school led by Luke Clement. Then the Fun Runners led the way with a cross country fun run around the village and across the fields. They all enthusiastically completed the route in an astonishingly fast time. The competition heated up when the Run & Scoot event started for individuals from Key Stage 1 and also the triathlon for individuals and teams from Key Stage 2. The Key stage 2 entrants competed against their year group peers in swimming, cycling and running. In true triathlon spirit they finished the swim element and were straight onto their bikes to cycle the course that had been set up on our school’s playing fields. From there they were off with gusto on foot for the cross country element around the fields and village.
Over £300 has been raised so far in sponsorship for Heartswell to cover the costs of our new school and community defibrillator and secure cabinet.
The parents, teachers and children all agreed it was once again a fabulous day, one of the highlights of our school year. Once again a big thank you to organisers who made the day such a success.
