Tavistock Trip 2018
Year 5 experienced a dry but cold day for their Trip to Tavistock. The children conducted a Pedestrian and traffic survey before moving to the War Memorial to meet Mr Christie. At first the children where a little hesitant to ask questions to the members of the public, but after a while they gained confidence and enjoyed completing this activity. Next came the traffic survey – which will be used during a numeracy lesson next week on data handling and interpreting graphs. We meet Mr Christie, who is a member of The British Legion who talked about the Memorial. Two children placed wooden crosses whilst we had a minute’s silence.
After refreshments at Tavy Club we walked to St Eustachius Church to look at features of a Church of England Church.
After lunch we compared Tavistock Methodist Church with St Eustachius. Mr Mawer spoke of John Wesley and showed us his church.
A quick walk to Tavistock Fire Station was needed to spend some time at Tavistock Fire Station. We were given a talk about how to keep safe and ‘squirt’ water from a hose.
Thank you to all who helped.
