Wire sculptures

How to make a Modroc Wire Statue!

Before you start building your statue you need to make sure you have all the tools you need.
You need: Modroc paper (enough to cover your statue), aluminium wire (lots), a wooden block, 2 nails.

The tools you need: Wire scissors, hammer, and a bowl full of water.

Method:

  • Take a stick of aluminium wire (roughly 20cm) and place your finger in the middle, slowly bend it round so you have a circle in the middle of your wire.
  • Twist the wire round so you have a firm circle. Take another piece of wire and twist it round a bit in between the other 2 sticks of wire, this will be your body.
  • Next take another piece of wire and cut it half, use the pieces to wrap around the arms to make. By doing this you are making them stronger and more durable
  • Then take a pair of scissors and cut where you want the body to end, not to short, not to long! Take another piece of wire find the middle of it and wrap it all the way round the body these will be the legs.
  • Take a few more piece of wire and use them to strongen your statue this will help later on when you apply your Modroc. You are nearly done now you just want to add odd bits like hands and feet. Feet are a very good idea because later on it will help when you try to attach your statue to your wood block.
