Year 4
Visit to Cotehole - September 2009
Class 4 visited the National Trust property of Cotehele House on Thursday
17 th September as part of their history studies about Tudors. The pupils dressed in Tudor costume and had a tour of the house. Later they went into the Mother Orchard and viewed the Manaccan Primrose Apple tree planted by former pupils in 2007.
Pupil comments:
I liked dressing up in Tudor costumes because it made the past more real.
I enjoyed having guides to take us around the house because I learned more about each object than if I had been on my own.
When I had my costume on it felt as if I was a real servant working at Cotehele. The house tapestries were a bit rude as there were naked cherubs!
I felt like a Tudor girl. I liked the really big bedroom and the bed with all the mattresses. The Great Hall was amazing.
I like visiting the Mother Orchard and the hand holding apple statue. It was really good.
What I like best was the squint. I could look through it on to the Great Hall without being seen.
