Celebrating Commonwealth Day
Year 4 decided to celebrate Commonwealth Day on Monday 14th March by dressing up in a costume of a Commonwealth country or dressing in the colours of a flag of a Commonwealth country. They also used the day to raise money for the school charity as they each brought in 50p for dressing up. A total of £15 was raised.
In addition, they led an assembly to tell the school facts they had learnt about the countries. They rounded off the day by trying foods from Canada, Australia, Africa and the Caribbean.
Pupil’s comments -

- I liked it because we got to dress up and raise money for our school charity
- We tasted foods from the Commonwealth which included pancakes, fruits, Vegimite, biscuits and bread. I really enjoyed the pancakes with maple syrup.
