Welcome to St Andrew's C of E Primary School

Cotehele September 2011

On the 21st September Year 4 went to Cotehele House to learn more about the Tudors. The weather, although overcast, was kind and it did not rain! After getting dressed up in either a rich person or servant Tudor costume, the class was split into two groups and taken on a tour of the house by two excellent guides. They pointed out the various aspects of the house which were from the Tudor period and the children were encouraged to think about all they saw and heard to help them write their historical Tudor stories.
After lunch the class went to the orchards to learn more about all things apple! Finally they went through the gardens along the path to the quay to the chapel where Richard Edgcumbe was said to have jumped over the edge to avoid his captors. An excellent day was had by all!

One pupil said “It was really interesting and I learnt loads about the Tudors” whilst several said it was good and amazing
