Diary enteries from Year 6
Mon 28 th April 2008
Today I got up and went to school for 8 am. We left at around .30am on a 2 hour journey to @ Bristol. When we arrived we were able to explore! I went around with Emily, Amy and Josie. My favourite part was playing with the water wheel. We had to do lots of pulling leavers and spinning wheels. At 2.00pm we left for Ironbridge. When we saw all the signs we started singing! I had some lovely ham and mushroom pizza with salad for dinner followed by rhubarb yoghurt. Overall I have enjoyed today and have has a lovely time. (After I wrote this we went to the Ironbridge. It was amazing!)
Tuesday 29th April
Today was fantastic first we went to Jackfield Tiles. I did a fish. The clay outline was really hard to get out of the tube but I did it. We went to Blist Hill to have lunch then we looked round. We changed our money to Victorian money so we could buy stuff. In the Victorian school we burst out laughing! It was so funny. In the village I bought sweets and a bracelet. It was so weird seeing people in Victorian clothes though. We visited the printers and they printed some things. We also visited the fair and Lydia won a prize! In the candle stick maker’s shop he showed us how they made candles. There was a big barrel in the middle full of melted wax and the man put his hand in and it all went hard. Then we went to a rich person’s house and in comparison to the poor house the rich house had cloth on the shelf for their ornaments when the poor house had newspaper. For some jobs you had to have an apprentice. |
Wednesday 30th April
Today I woke up and Jon sang ‘Happy Birthday’ it was my birthday!!! I had a full cooked breakfast. Then we got on the coach to the River Museum. At the River Museum we did a leaflet all about the River Severn, I got full marks. It was fun because there were computers and after we had looked around the facts about the River Severn we went to watch a film about the Ironbidge. We noticed some of the people in the film from Blist Hill. After we got back on the coach to go to Enginuity. At Enginutiy we were told all the rules and then we got in our groups to go in different sections. We went in the green section first, it was great!! We got different obstacles for the ball to go all around, it was great fun and I completed it and when you complete things you get stamps on your leaflet. I completed all the sections but my favourite section was the blue section because there was a canal and you could stop the water or make the water faster and then we got on the coach to have a drink then we walked over to the Iron Museum. Next at the Iron Museum we also got another leaflet and I also completed all of them. At the museum we looked at the things made of iron. My favourite model was a head of a dog. Then we got on the coach to go and play rounders – we tied. After we went back to have tea and we set off again to the Power Station. We got to the Power Station and there was a man, Sid and a lady, Jan. We watched a film about electricity after we looked at what happens in the station, then we went on loads of activities and my favourite activity was the static when you could put electricity into you then we set back on the coach. |
Thursday 1st May
It shall be hard to tell you how much fun I had today but I will tell you anyway. After another spectacular breakfast we went to The Black Country Museum. It must have been the funnest trip. First we did a frightening trip down the coal mine, it was terrifying. We also went to loads of Victorian houses. There were very harsh rules. They shared beds and bath water. Would you like a stay at a Victorian house? I wouldn’t. For lunch I had a yummy jam sandwich and crisps and an orange. Then we went on a fantastic canal trip. I think that was what inspired me the most. I bought my dad some Pear Drops. Now on our final night in Ironbridge it’s time to see whether St. Andrew’s Primary School has talent? |
Friday's diary entry to follow shortly. |
