| St.
Francis elementary school is a public Catholic school run by the council, a
school whose aim is to educate our pupils according to Christian values. It
is one of our tasks to teach subject knowledge as requested in the curriculum
while paying attention to Catholic beliefs and values. In addition to education
we focus on teaching that pedagogical area and want to raise the children entrusted
to us to courageous and committed Christians and citizen. In this context we
have the following aims, which we want to mediate to our students:
· to be respectful to God and His creation · to take responsibility for oneself and the community · to tolerate different philosophies and cultures · to devote themselves to social justice and peace. On the basis of Christian philosophy, a first guidance shot discovering oneself as well as to being devoted and responsive to others. The latter aspect is reflected by many children’s I groups such as scouts, servants or the choir of our church more than merely providing facts. It is based on education opinions. That includes introducing role models. The path school, St. Francis of Assisi, has an outstanding position sin many of the above-mentioned aims and can be introduced school students very easily. Confessional school also means that we are a school which is chosen as alternative to the public elementary school. Families who send their children to St. Francis-elementary s active and supportive to our school and are prepared to: Cooperate closely with the staff Support the school’s interests towards the outside world Be actively involved in school events and their preparation In this context the Friends of St. Francis elementary schoo1 organisation to which parents of present and former students contribute financially in order to enable all children to take part to take part in class trips and to ensure that the school receives better equipment the Friends, Parents whose children attend our school often notice that a large part of their Christian philosophy and values as well as their educational aims match ours.
It course, tile specific guidelines and school limitations of the federal state of North Rhine Westphalia (NRW) apply to our school, too. The title of 'public' to the name of our school underlines this. Not only Catholic children attend St. Francis-elementary school. It is correct to say that primarily Catholic children are accented. As a confessional school, we are also selected by parents of 01 who make use of their right to choose a school and specific~ desire their children to attend a confessional school, because they can identify with our ideas. Unlike the Catholic children of our parish these children take part in the communion and monetary lessons in ~ and form which are taught on a weekly basis by the priests of Francis monastery. Still, attending religious education classes and the weekly school mass for 3rd and 4th form are compulsory for them, too. Confession mean that expectations or hopes connected to this kind sometimes not be met. Changing values and religious deficits only partly be compensated by a Catholic school. For a Catholic confession school, school with all its strengths and weaknesses However, we try to develop a profile. T the commitment of our staff and collaboration with the parents enables many children to grow in a relatively stress-free atmosphere. Our school is not only chosen by parents and children elementary school employs only teachers who have deliberately opted for teaching at our school and who mirror their attitude and their actions. The staff agree that teaching to be tolerant and to live without prejudices, to be open-minded and just as well as to show courage and solidarity cannot be restricted to single RE lessons We try to be a role model in showing that one can tolerate and accept the other. Sometimes teaching traditional Christian standards and values succeeds in helping children develop a clearer feeling for right and wrong. Children should be promoted and encouraged according to their talents both in developing social compatibility and in their ability to integrate into the community. They should also meet with challenges. · We bear in mind the learning conditions of each individual child and offer it specific learning. Each child has its individual strengths and weaknesses which it has to accept both with itself and with others. We encourage it wherever it seems necessary for developing a readiness for learning. We set boundaries wherever it seems advisable for the future integration of the young person into the community. · In exchange for this, we expect the child to make an effort. Learning is often connected with exertion as much as with success. Learning often requires overcoming one’s own resistance, concentration, quiet and endurance. · We want to achieve our goals based on mutual partnership and respect. A joint learning in the group with its different talents is enrichment. Being in a social surrounding is inevitable for life in a community and is seen as an elementary learning objective.
Our methods of teaching consider the following prerequisites: · Children like moving around. · Children learn by using all their senses. · Children want to touch before understanding. · Children need both relaxation and stress. · Children are very curious. · Children need and seek orientation and role models. |
