Welcome to St Andrew's C of E Primary School

Comenius Project ‘WinDoors to Europe’

The first project meeting for the Comenius School Project ‘WinDoors to Europe’ was held from 24th – 29th September 2009 at St Andrew’s C. of E. (Aided) Primary School, Buckland Monachorum and Okehampton Primary School. Teacher colleagues from Franziskus Grundschule in Dortmund, Germany and Nicola Giampietro School in Torre del Greco, near Italy were delighted to meet pupils who will be helping to initiate, monitor and evaluate the project over the next two years. For the first year pupils in all the partner schools will be sharing ideas and experiences based on windows and doors and the theme ‘looking out and looking in’ about their own schools and localities using art, music, literacy and ICT to communicate with each other. The project aims to increase pupils understanding of shared heritage in their own countries and in Europe and to develop social and communication skills to work with others across national boundaries providing motivation purpose and enrichment to their curriculum studies.

Every class prepared a display on the theme of windows and doors for the project meeting. A competition for a project logo produced some very imaginative and creative images from pupils in all the partner schools
